Care & Washing Instructions

To keep your MadeNorth Cotton Mat looking and
performing at its best, please follow these
recommended care instructions.

Everyday Cleaning

• Only wash your mat when necessary.
• Allow mud and dirt to dry before brushing away.
• Brush or vacuum regularly to remove loose debris.
• New mats may shed excess cotton fibres. This is normal and should reduce after brushing or washing.

Machine Washing

• Place the mat inside a cotton pillowcase to help protect it during washing.
• Machine wash at 30°C using a quick cotton cycle and low spin speed.
• Remove excess cotton, mud and debris before washing.
• Check your washing machine filter regularly for loose cotton fibres.
• Avoid biological washing detergents, which may fade the colour.
• Do not use fabric conditioner, as it may reduce the mat’s performance.

Drying Instructions

• Dry naturally by laying flat, hanging on a line or using an Aga rail.
• Optional: Tumble dry on a cool setting for up to 10 minutes to refresh the pile.
• Never tumble dry on high heat or for extended periods.
• Allow the mat and floor to dry completely before placing it back down.

Important Floor Care

• Never place your MadeNorth mat on a damp floor.
• Lift the mat frequently to clean and air the flooring underneath.
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which may cause fading.
• Avoid leaving a steam cleaner on the mat for extended periods, as heat may affect the backing.
• For oversized mats or rugs that cannot fit into a washing machine, spot clean as required.
• Cleaning products, sunlight and heat may affect certain flooring finishes beneath mats.
• For specialist flooring, check with the flooring manufacturer before using rubber-backed mats.
